When Sondra arrived at her first appointment with me (Jenny Mattos) we
did our normal hair consultation. She had super long beautiful hair and wanted to keep it long. She wanted a trim, but her goal was to keep as much of the length as possible. We also discussed color options because she wanted to put some highlights in her hair. During her first appointment we did the normal getting to know each other chat. I learned she was a nurse and that she had a long-time boyfriend that she was planning to marry someday. She was waiting on the proposal, but it was clear they would be spending the rest of their lives together. As I continued doing Sondra’s hair I learned that her and boyfriend LOVE to travel. I also learned they love their dog Mykonos, which is something we share because my dog Isaac is definitely my fur child. Throughout the years we continued doing highlights and little trims to Sondra’s hair. She loved the style of the Blunt Lob, but I reminded her to envision her hair when she got married someday. I felt the engagement was coming soon and I did not want to cut off all her hair and have her regret it. Sondra agreed that she would want it long so we would save the short cut for after the wedding. Not long after this discussion, I saw on Social Media that she had gotten engaged on one of their many vacations. At the next hair appointment, Sondra said she would like to book EB Elite Artistry for her wedding day hair and makeup. Sondra and I discussed all of her future appointments and I asked her to start thinking about how she would like her hair. I wanted to know how she envisioned her hair styled for the day as well as her desired hair length, thickness and color. We created a plan and scheduled her appointments accordingly. I also encouraged her to please let us know the date as soon as possible because EB Elite Artistry books up quickly. Sondra is a planner and shortly after this appointment she called with her wedding date and placed her deposit to hold her desired day. We talked about a trial appointment so we could experiment to see what she likes and doesn't like for her hair and makeup needs. I suggested that we schedule the trial for her engagement photos so she could get good use out of the hair and makeup. Her photos were early in her engagement, so she was still uncertain regarding her wedding look, but she did know she wanted her hair and makeup done for the photos. When we did her hair and makeup for the photos, we played with some color on her makeup. Sondra has gorgeous eyes that I wanted to really pop in the pictures. She wanted her beautiful hair down with soft curls. After her photo shoot, we discussed the thickness of her hair. I told her if placed a few extensions, it would really make her hair pop regardless of style. Sondra’s engagement shoot was almost a year before her wedding so she had some time to think about it and decide before the big day. We had timely appointments schedule to keep checking in and keeping her hair color and cut the way she chose. As we approached the big day, Sondra decided she wanted a braid for her wedding hairstyle. I thought it was a fun style that was definitely on trend. She showed me pictures of braids she liked and I explained to get those big fun braids, it would look thicker if we did a few extensions for fullness and she agreed. Once Sondra’s extensions arrived and she had a vision for hair and makeup we were ready for her real trial. I reminded her to make sure she was doing something fun after the appointment so she could use her look! She scheduled the trial for her last date night before being husband and wife. During her trial we had fun with some burgundy colors on her eyes, and man oh man did her eyes pop. Then we moved onto the braid. Now here is something about me… I don’t do anything simple. Sondra’s “braid” was basically four braids, which joined into one braid. Sondra loved it! She said it was exactly what she was looking for, but she didn't want Travis to see her completed look even though wanted to stay cute for her date night. I quickly did a few changes, so he would still be surprised at the big reveal on their wedding day. Sondra’s wedding was during the week. On her wedding day we started the day as we normally do with setting everyone’s hair. Once I was done setting I moved onto doing Sondra’s makeup after finishing Sondra’s makeup, I moved onto finishing everyone’s hair, with Sondra last so she would be ready to start the day once I finished her. We did Sondra’s hair and makeup just as we talked about at the trial run. I styled the bridesmaids in a loose romantic updo. Mother of the bride had a short style I gave some volume to and polished her style. The mother of the groom wanted half up half down hair with curls. It was a long but fun day with the girls. Since Sondra and Travis had a love for travel, they weren't going to stop at their honeymoon they were off to Bali! When Sondra was in Bali, I had got a message from her asking if she could get in as soon as she got home to get her extensions out and cut off all her hair like we had planned to do after the wedding. So we made an appointment for when she got back to take out the extensions and we made a separate appointment to do the haircut. I wanted to make sure she was really ready to cut it before we did. She was Ready! We chopped it off to her Lob that she had been wanting for some time. During all the wedding planning, Travis and Sondra had been planning on moving to Bend Oregon. Before Sondra had left, we made sure we had one more appointment to send her off with good hair and to say our goodbyes. I love watching her settle in with Travis and Mykonos in there new home in Bend and starting their lives as husband and wife.
