When you Shampoo your hair you are cleansing, so you really want to just focus on your roots. This opens up your cuticle in your hair. When conditioning, you want to focus on your mid shaft and ends of the hair. It is always best, if possible, to rinse out your conditioner or mask treatment with cool to cold water. This shocks your cuticle and has it shut to help it hold the conditioner, keeping your hair shiny healthy and happy!
You don't really want to ever leave your hair in a towel while you're getting ready. Unless your trying to create texture in your hair. When we leave a towel in our hair, it begins drying with the hair going in all directions and creates bumps in the hair. The best you can do is dry your hair so it's not dripping wet. Brush it out and part your hair where you would like your part to be. If you want texture in you hair, use a towel, if you don't, use a cotton t-shirt that is smooth. A towel has a rough texture that will rough up your hair and let your flyaway hairs go crazy. But a cotton t-shirt that is smooth, won't rough up those little hairs. Once you are done washing your hair, towel/t-shirt dry your hair so it's not dripping but don't leave it in a towel. As soon as we are done washing, our hair starts to dry. Starting with our roots. If you leave your hair up in it, the roots are going to dry in a way that you don't want. Thermal protection on your hair is so important for healthy, shiny, beautiful hair. Try and think of it as a protective shield protecting it from your hot tools. I'm #oribeobsessed because Oribe doesn't make it an option in their styling products, all of their styling products have thermal protection. Which helps clients and keeps stylist happy! Your basically getting two for one with their styling products.
