As I was in labor I began thinking about ideas for the first birthday party of the baby I was about to have. I started pinning ideas and came to the conclusion that I wanted to go with the Alice in Wonderland theme. I knew this would allow me to be creative and hand make a lot of the details. Fast forward 1 year and we threw a very fun Alice in Wonderland party with our family and close friends with lots of personal touches. ![]() Will my daughter remember this party? Of course not, but I love doing this kind of stuff and as a wedding planner I know that the small details make a world of difference. I wanted my guests to feel like kids again and enjoy all the fun and whimsy that comes along with this great movie. The question I get asked most frequently about events like this is how long do they take to execute and the cost. Really both of those depend on a lot of factors, you could work endlessly for hours and pull this off in a few weeks -- though I don't recommend it or you can space it out, like I did, and maintain your sanity. Since I made most of the decor I started about six months beforehand, knowing the holidays were right before this party and I would be busy also added to the reasons why I started so early. Additionally, if you're going to utilize sites like Etsy you need to factor in the time spent to make the items and ship. The cost of such a party can also vary greatly depending on whether or not you buy or make your decor, the time of day which you have it (feeding your guests a full meal or just appetizers). Other costs in addition to decor and food are dessert, games, favor bags, entertainment (jumpy house, face painting, etc). I jokingly told Jenny she should come to the party as the Cheshire Cat from the movie. Because she is the best Godmother to my daughter, she of course went all out and did exactly that. Read on below to see how Jenny created this amazing look. Products:
