I am a person that can not, even if I tried, hide what I’m thinking. This really shows when I’m in the middle of making an updo. More times than I can count, people make comments about watching me create my updo’s. They have said, “I can see the wheels turning through my eyes.” I totally take myself out of my surroundings, put myself in my own bubble and I get absorbed into full concentration. Stephanie has once described it as, “Almost like a pro basketball player at the free throw line. Or a baseball player when bases are loaded and they have two strikes. Jenny is going for the win!!” And the crowd cheers - well at least her and Lindsey do. Haha
I make the joke often that I’m doing what the hair wants to do. I love to have photos from people of what they are looking for. I like to see the style and the over all look. But I like to refer to these photos as inspiration. A lot of the time a client may have completely different hair and texture from the model. So I like to keep the overall style in my head and then create my art by following the hair’s needs. I know this make sound a little out there, but it’s honestly my process. It starts from the second I touch the hair. When I put my hands in a clients hair, I’m getting to “know” the hair. Texture, growth patterns and type of hair. I start adding the appropriate product for the style in mind that we are looking to create. I move on to curl and setting the hair in the direction and texture I want the hair in. Once I let the set down, I put in my base, more product and back combining to give me a base and help the creation of the over all look. Then the magic begins. With my guided help from product and hot tools, I start listening to the hair and creating the overall style a client is looking for, producing my work of art.
The Brand Story
Oribe Hair Care was founded by renowned editorial and celebrity hairstylist Oribe and beauty industry veterans Daniel Kaner and Tev Finger with the goal of creating a new kind of hair company, one that was designed with the most talented salon professionals and the most discriminating customers in mind. When developing the line, we didn’t want to compromise on any detail. We leveraged skin care technology and natural actives to deliver high-performance, treatment-based products—all while never forgetting that healthy hair is the underpinning for sexy, glamorous styling. Each product has been tested at length on set, backstage and in the salon to ensure that it delivers results, leaving us with a best-in-class collection that truly meets the needs of the hair-obsessed.
Oribe’s signature scent, Cote d’Azur, runs through the line at the lightest levels, designed so that the products in each individual’s hair ritual work together…and build upon each other. Developed in collaboration with one of the oldest French fragrance houses, tracing its roots back to the 1800s, Cote d’Azur was conceived to be beautiful and bright yet calming and composed—the perfect morning wake-up call, afternoon pick-me-up and evening mood-setter. The signature scent awakens with hints of citrus-soaked Italian bergamot, pink lemons, white peach, cassis and muguet, balanced with Aomori apples and leafy greens. Cedarwood, white amber and musk lend their soft woody notes, while Cuba’s national flower, la mariposa blanca, creates a sensual and invigorating experience throughout the day.
They say you shouldn’t judge a book by its cover…in our case, feel free. For us, packaging is an immediate sign of what the consumer can expect from our brand: something elevated, sophisticated and fun. Oribe Hair Care’s award-winning packaging was designed to make the experience of using the products as beautiful as the formulas themselves. Every detail was carefully crafted and nuanced, from the shape of each bottle to the eco-friendly boxes sourced from well-managed forests and printed with vegetable inks. The architectural facets and striking jewel tones perfectly blend old-world heritage with modern elegance. Our packaging has established a new standard for hair care. Oribe products are truly a modern-day bathroom accessory.

This is by far, my #1 product ever. I wouldn't be able to live without it. It is amazing for everyone! It was my gateway to my Oribe Obsession.
HOW TO USE:
Shake. Spray. Pump. Finishes and holds styles. Add heat for extra volume.
What do I use to get the styled 'undone' beachy wave look?
The answer to this question is a little different for every person, because there are options. It really depends on your hair. I love my curling iron and it's my go to for my hair. But, I also like to curl with a flat iron. I also suggest to a lot of clients that they try a wand. It's not totally my thing, but I hear from clients how easy it is for them to use because they are not good with a curling iron. I have not used it personally, but a few of my clients are in love with the Beach Wavier. I always start with what they are comfortable using.
Also what's important for this look is product. You want a product with thermal protection because you will be applying heat to your hair. Then once you are done curling you want to shake it out with a texture spray. My favorite product is definitely Oribe's Dry Texture Spray. Then I go back in with a pomade to piece it out a bit more and calm down how crazy I get with the dry texture Spray.
The stylist’s tool of choice, this ultra-fine, ultra-dry mist can be layered, styled and reworked to perfection. Spray over finished looks for light, brushable hold with a touchable, satin finish.
I'm loving this hairspray because of how workable it is and how it easily layers with other products. It has definitely been my go-to hairspray this season.
HOW TO USE:
Shake and spray to add light hold. Shape and reshape as desired. Finish with a final mist to set styles.
Professional Products- Shampoo, conditioner and styling products. Products that your stylist uses from the salon.
Tools- If you blow dry your hair after every time you wash it, really think about investing in a good blow dryer. I promise you won't regret it. A good round brush is a must. I have a handful of favorites I use for different styles I'm trying to achieve. Clips that hold your hair and a hot tool to finish and polish your look. Once again, this depends on the style your going for.
Drying- Don't leave your hair up in a towel. As soon as you dry your hair enough so it's not dripping, part your hair the way you want it to lay.
Rough Dry- When you start your rough dry, make sure you are always directing the heat down the hair shaft, to help prevent flyaways.
Section your hair- Put it in small enough sections you can control and round brush out each section.
Polish- Finish your blow dry with a hot tool and a couple of your favorite finishing products.
Reach new heights. Our texturizing root-lift powder instantly adds buildable grip and style. The zero-mess sprayer creates amplified updos and dramatic volume.
This product was a true game changer for me. It is like backcombing in a bottle. It is truly amazing and like nothing I've ever used before. I am obsessed with it!
HOW TO USE:
Shake and spray into dry hair, focusing on roots. Style with fingers or brush for instant expansiveness.
Definitely read Dirty Hair, Don't Care. But this is different for each person. I like to go a week personally. But, for some, the most they can do is every other day and some even choose to wash it every day. Everyday washing is normally for a finer or oily hair client. Some of my clients that have texture or trained their hair to do every other to every third day.
So, I answer this question different for each client. At most, every other day and try not to go much longer than a week. If you struggle with this, find yourself a good Dry Shampoo that works good for you. You also don't want to suffocate your hair follicle, which can create hair loss.
When you Shampoo your hair you are cleansing, so you really want to just focus on your roots. This opens up your cuticle in your hair. When conditioning, you want to focus on your mid shaft and ends of the hair. It is always best, if possible, to rinse out your conditioner or mask treatment with cool to cold water. This shocks your cuticle and has it shut to help it hold the conditioner, keeping your hair shiny healthy and happy!
You don't really want to ever leave your hair in a towel while you're getting ready. Unless your trying to create texture in your hair. When we leave a towel in our hair, it begins drying with the hair going in all directions and creates bumps in the hair. The best you can do is dry your hair so it's not dripping wet. Brush it out and part your hair where you would like your part to be. If you want texture in you hair, use a towel, if you don't, use a cotton t-shirt that is smooth. A towel has a rough texture that will rough up your hair and let your flyaway hairs go crazy. But a cotton t-shirt that is smooth, won't rough up those little hairs. Once you are done washing your hair, towel/t-shirt dry your hair so it's not dripping but don't leave it in a towel. As soon as we are done washing, our hair starts to dry. Starting with our roots. If you leave your hair up in it, the roots are going to dry in a way that you don't want.
Thermal protection on your hair is so important for healthy, shiny, beautiful hair. Try and think of it as a protective shield protecting it from your hot tools. I'm #oribeobsessed because Oribe doesn't make it an option in their styling products, all of their styling products have thermal protection. Which helps clients and keeps stylist happy! Your basically getting two for one with their styling products.
